Finding your flow - creating opportunities

Ikigai principles practise being in one’s flow. What does that mean?

Being in your flow is a total state of immersion. When the activity you’re doing is effortless, you’re in the zone and time flies by.

When you’re in the flow your mind is free, creativity comes through, questions are answers by your subconscious. A blissful state when you’re in the moment and there are distractions or stresses.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy doing? What gets you ‘in the zone’ of genius or in your creative flow? Is it colouring, painting, cooking, doing a crossword or word search, or building Lego? Being in your flow doesn’t require external verification, fame or money. It’s an internal peace, a moment with yourself focussing on something that is meaningful.

Being in your flow is a phycology tgat melts together action and consciousness. A balance of skill and challenge that keeps you focussed fully present and completely absorbed to transform your mind and time.

Flow can be used as a coping mechanism in occupational therapy for stress and anxiety. To focus on productively pursuing a form of leisure that matches one's skill set. Instead of using it as a reactive method, Ikigai uses it as a proactive method for inner peace and prosperity.

Making time for activities that create a foundation for you to flow will prevent stress and overwhelm because you’ve created a pause for yourself mentally and emotionally.

Flow is an individual experience and used in sports psychology with the theory about an athlete in the zone for optimal achievement.

The individuality of the concept of flow suggests that each person has their subjective area of flow, where they would function best given the situation. To be in one’s flow is to be focussed and challenged but not overwhelmed or under stimulated.

My challenge to you GLOWGETTERS this week is to find your flow. What activities can you do that get you in the zone of your genius? Is it cooking, painting your nails, colouring, swimming… what hobbies can you add to your calendar to give yourself the time and space to connect with yourself?

Thank you for reading, if this was useful please 🩷 and if it could help someone in your network, please share.
